Recreational / Fitness Skating
Generally used for skating on the seafront in the park, or through the city.  Usually has a soft upper section for added comfort and a thicker footbed.  Wheel range is typically from 80mm-110mm and can come in three-wheel options.
 
Freestyle Skates
Commonly known as freeskates, these tend to have a hard supportive boot and a short wheelbase for tight turns. These are meant for urban/city skating but many people also use them as regular recreational or fitness skates.  They allow for a bit more manoeuvrability and movement.  Wheel range is typically 80mm-125mm based on frame length and three-wheel options.

3 Wheel Skates 
Popular now as they house bigger wheels for more speed retention.  The wheel range is typically 100mm-125mm. 3 wheels fit better around the mounting points on the skate, allowing you to place the wheels closer to your foot for a lower, more stable ride height vs the same size wheels in 4-wheeled skates.
