The FRX 80 is our best-selling skate and it has been for a while. So it's worth being upfront about what makes it good, and just as importantly, who it's actually right for.
This isn't a skate for everyone. But for the right person, it's hard to beat at the price.
What It Is
The FRX 80 is FR Skates' entry-level inline skate for general purpose. FR is a French brand that's been making performance-focused inline skates for over 20 years. They're well-regarded in the freestyle and slalom skating world, and the FRX line brings that quality to a more accessible price point.
It runs on 80mm wheels with an aluminium frame, and has a hard shell cuff over a cushioned boot liner. That combination gives you more support than a soft boot skate, while staying comfortable enough for longer sessions.

How It Performs
The aluminium frame gives it a stiffness and responsiveness you don't get with plastic frames at this price. That matters for efficiency: less energy lost through flex, more transferred into forward movement.
80mm wheels are standard across most skates for general purpose. Big enough to roll over uneven surfaces without jarring you to a stop, small enough that you're not fighting a long wheelbase when you want to turn. If you're skating mainly on tarmac or cycle paths, they do the job well.
The hard cuff provides real ankle support without being stiff in a way that becomes uncomfortable after an hour. Most people find the boot settles in quickly, especially once the liner's had a few sessions on it.

Who It's Right For
If you're getting back into skating after a break, or you want something for regular skating on paths and roads, the FRX 80 is a solid fit. It's also a decent step up from soft-boot skates if you've outgrown those and want more response.
Our best-selling skate for a reason. Aluminium frame, real ankle support, and FR quality at a price that makes sense for most people starting out or returning to fitness skating. If you're not sure where to start, this is usually where we'd point you.
