If you want one pair of inline skates that does most things well, you're in the right place. Freestyle skates, (you'll also see them called FSK or urban skates) are skates for general purpose. Stiff enough to hold your ankle when you're pushing hard, comfortable enough to stay on all day, and equally happy on city streets, smooth flat ground and everything in between. Most people skating towns/cities end up on a setup like this. The name comes from freestyle slalom, weaving through a line of cones, and that is still what slalom skaters use. But you don't need to own a single cone to want these. What to look for: a boot stiff enough to actually support you, a flat frame you can rocker later if slalom pulls you in, and 80mm wheels as the historical default. Read less
