Rollerblading exhibition

Founder of Slamm Jamm Dave Bell has been up to his usual tricks doing more positive stuff for rollerblading! Here's a press release he sent us:
'“IS Rollerblading S***?”
Over the 15 years I have been rolling I’ve heard many a negative word thrown at OUR Lifestyle. This has come mainly from other areas within the “extreme sports” world and some misguided sectors of the general public and media.
Aggressive, Freestyle, Rolling call it what you want but Rollerblading is by far a million miles away from words such as S*** and WEAK. To me it’s a form of expression that speaks volumes.
The “IRS” project is something I’ve been thinking of for a while, an ongoing structure of small events that would inform and promote rollerblading to the general public locally. In doing so hopefully generating more interest and awareness of what we do within our lifestyle & maybe along the way generating new rollers. This concept is nothing new, many have been doing this for years across the globe in there own ways.
2009 I feel is a turning point for rollerblading, there seems to be a new sense of purpose, pride & direction within parts of the

olling community. As SlammJamm enters its 11th year in Oct 2009, I intend to make this year and coming years an ongoing celebration of rolling leading up to SlammJamm events.
Within the UK rolling community we have a wealth of talent not only in the sense of rollerblading, but also within the visual / performance arts sectors. So to start the ball rolling I’ve developed a small digital exhibition and insight into Rollerblading as part of the “Climate for Change” program at FACT (www.fact.co.uk). Using images & edits created over the years of SlammJamm, the exhibition is just one step forward showing the visual talents of Adam Kola, Ben Sach, Anthony Mcgarth, Balmore, Duncan Clarke, Jordan Maders, Mark Trebble to those outside our world.
The exhibition takes place on the 28th May @ FACT from 1pm till 9pm and you can peep the flyer/info here www.slammjamm.com. As an ongoing development I’m looking to get as many “Rollers” involved in the IRS project as possible. So if you are a Visual Artist, Videographer, Graff Artist, Musician, BBoy/Girl, MC etc, then don’t hesitate to drop me an email at

Get your diaries out, the Nimh boys are coming to town! Yep, Brian Shima and Montre Livingston will be stopping by on Monday 1st June to say what's up and promote Brian's brand Nimh skates. Come down to our high street store in Eastbourne about 15:00, hang out with us for a bit and then we'll go ROLLERBLADING!!! This

ll be one of the only opportunities to see the legend that is Brian Shima and 2009's wonder-boy Montre killing it in the UK. Of course Nimh and Loco riders Oli Short (oh yeah, Oli's on Nimh now if you didn't already know!), Sam Tuffnell and Leon Humpries will also be present doing what they do best. See you on the

Ok, it's not rollerblading but it's not far off! Check out this completely mind boggling video of British gymnast / freerunner / TOTAL NINJA, Damien Walters getting creative. Maybe it might inspire you to look at skating in a different way. Incredible!

Made in Poland

Thanks to the guys at FilmOne in Poland who emailed us about a short skate film they made called 'Made In Poland'. It's a documentary about rollerblading which apparently won a few film awards for editing and cinematography. Don't watch this if you're gonna pick at the skate footage! ...but I think you'll agree it's beautifully made. The best way to watch this is to follow our links below to Vimeo (as the speaking parts are translated). There are 4 parts of it which form around 20 minutes. Part 1, Part/span>, Part 3, Part 4.
